Rick Orloff

Rick Orloff is the GVP, CISO at 8x8, Inc. (NASDAQ EGHT). He is a non-bureaucratic operations-minded business executive with more than 20 years of security experience in Silicon Valley and global markets. Rick characterizes ‘security' as a 'business enablement' function and has held executive leadership roles at Apple, eBay, Code42, and Lam Research. He has been directly accountable for global risk management, cloud security, information security, due diligence programs, product security, GRC, physical security, cyber investigations, and national security programs.
Rick thinks strategically assessing the needs of the entire business against practical risk management thresholds. He has led complex global challenges with cross-functional teams leveraging his technical acumen and strategic problem-solving skills. He has been brought in to advise the Whitehouse, Pentagon, NSA, CIA, and FBI on classified projects.
Rick spent seven years at Apple Inc. leading and building a variety of global security programs to protect Apple’s sensitive data and critical initiatives. He also developed a security framework for the supply chain, was responsible for strategy and execution relative to securing all prototype devices and was responsible for all critical cyber investigations.
During Rick’s career, he has held a variety of government security clearances including but not limited to, United States Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI). Rick was instrumental in designing and implementing several public-private partnerships with a mission-oriented mindset.
Rick’s experience includes global threat management, cyber intelligence programs, and correlating geospatial data. Additionally, Rick designed and built multiple world-class Security Operations Centers converging cyber and physical data artifacts delivering meaningful and actionable results.
