Mark Leary

A successful global CISO and technology business leader for over 25 years, Mark Leary has held positions of corporate information security oversight for global Fortune 500 firms in defense, aerospace, manufacturing, IT services, business process outsourcing, and biotechnology markets. Mark has a strong track record in creating or transforming corporate-level, enterprise-wide information security programs that address the unique needs of the business. As a trusted advisor to business leaders, he often contributes to managing technology risk relative to their business operations. With the various boards of directors to whom he has reported, Mark has an innate ability to translate complex technical risks into strategic business risks and help management successfully address them. Prior to Regeneron, Mark held inaugural cybersecurity leadership roles with companies such as Conduent, Xerox, TASC, and Northrop Grumman. At Northrop Grumman and TASC, he also had direct P&L responsibility for cybersecurity services delivery to government and commercial markets. Mark is a U.S. Army veteran with 22 years of military service. Mark’s prior board experience was as a member of the Board of Trustees, WXXI Public Broadcasting Council, a community nonprofit that owns major broadcasting services. Mark has been recognized as a U.S. Top 100 CISO (C100), Top 20 CISOs by Enterprise Security Magazine, Information Security Executive (ISE) Northeast Executive of the Year, ISE AMER Health Care Executive of the Year, CISO of the Year by the EC-Council, Maryland Tech Council CISO of the Year, and a Gartner/Evanta Global CISO Top Ten Breakaway Leader.

Mark holds a Doctorate degree from the University of Maryland, MBA from George Mason University, and dual Masters degrees in IT and Security Management. Mark holds several board certifications in cybersecurity and is certified by the National Association of Corporate Directors and Corporate Governance Institute in Cybersecurity Oversight for Board Members. Mark is a frequent speaker at industry events, has published over 20 articles in industry and peer-reviewed journals, and is the co-author of the textbook Building a Practical Information Security Program.​ Mark is an avid outdoorsman, skier, and boat restorer and resides in Canandaigua, New York, with his wife.
