Modern CISO Network: Board Book

Lance is a global business leader, trusted strategic partner, and cybersecurity evangelist. He has advanced the standard of cybersecurity good practice in the Nordics and has extensive experience translating technical acumen into business value.

Lance is currently employed as Chief Security Officer at Denmark’s largest bank (and a key player in every Nordic country’s financial infrastructure). As such, he works daily with digital systems and cyber and sees them as operational risks, systemic issues, and business opportunities. He has P&L responsibility for approximately 60m Euro annually and has led teams as large as 700 staff. He drives the protection of shareholder value while maintaining clear and transparent discussions with the Board.

He also holds the role of Outsourcing Officer, a position required by EBA guidance and Danish legislation. This gives him a strong view into the benefits of, and systemic risks posed by, cloud technologies and extended chains of outsourcing and provides him with extensive experience in mitigating those risks appropriately.

In a previous role, Lance was a key driver in the growth of Deloitte’s Swiss cyber practice. His experience working hand in hand with cyber leaders, at the vast majority of Switzerland’s top 20 corporations, has given him tools to leverage in solving challenges across borders and business domains. He applies a sharp intellectual approach with a bias for action.

An outspoken individual, Lance presents cyber topics to audiences across Europe. He is proud to have contributed to the stability of Denmark’s financial infrastructure and is often quoted in local newspapers.
