Evan Morgan

Executive Director, Cyber Security Technology

Ally Financial

Evan Morgan, currently the Executive Director of Cyber Security Technology for Ally Financial, is an engineer by nature and a security professional by trade with over a decade of experience in technology and security. With over a decade supporting cybersecurity programs at the CISO level for large organizations, his experiences span from military service to roles at Fortune 100 financial services and Big Four consulting firms, even extending into academia as a university professor. His career began in the U.S. Air Force after the events of 9/11, starting as an Aerospace Pneudraulics Systems Craftsman, where he worked hydraulic and pneumatic systems on airplanes. After leaving the military, he transitioned into the field of cybersecurity, holding information security and security architect leadership positions at organizations including Lowe’s Companies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, EY, TIAA, and several others. Having worked extensively in deeply technical aspects of cybersecurity, Evan spearheaded several multi-million-dollar transformations of large-scale, international organizations’ cybersecurity programs. Evan’s leadership style prioritizes quick, iterative problem-solving within a structured framework. This approach avoids two common security pitfalls: analysis paralysis, where decision-making is stalled due to over-analysis, and ineffective action, where movement occurs but without any meaningful progress.

Evan holds a utility patent for a unique method, system, and apparatus for identifying and deceiving non-proxy aware malware. He has more than 35 professional cybersecurity, cyber risk, and technology certifications in addition to two graduate degrees—an MBA and Master of Science in Information Systems in cybersecurity. He is also an experienced advisory board member and has taught and developed several computer forensics courses for Westwood College.
