Modern CISO Network: Board Book

David Fox is a cybersecurity leader with extensive experience in defense, government, and industry, in which he has successfully delivered effective security for a range of organizations and projects. After a career in the Royal Air Force Police, where he became a cyber specialist and senior policy advisor, he joined industry in the cyber arm of BAE Systems. He also worked for Accenture as an advisor before his current role.

With over 20 years of experience in advising executives, organizations, and projects on cybersecurity and general security operations, David has practical understanding and proficiency in nearly all aspects of security. This broad security background means David understands that security is one of many competing priorities in which boards need to not only understand the technical question at hand, but also its context so that they make informed, risk-balanced decisions. Having been responsible for one of the largest defense programs at the time, he has worked in a complex multi-national environment and has a deep understanding of defense and government security. He has planned, led, and delivered complex security services projects in government and industry. He also has extensive experience in creating security organizations from scratch, setting strategy and advising Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and CISOs on the delivery of cybersecurity to improve organizational security and provide value for investment.

Recently, he delivered a proposed cybersecurity strategy for one of the largest transport engineering organizations in the UK, which was accepted and implemented by the board.
