Modern CISO Network: Board Book

Christian is a passionate security leader and transformational CISO with more than 20 years of experience in information security, from technology-related aspects to influential initiatives aimed at bringing information security to the attention of executive leadership teams and boards of directors. He has worked for global financial institutions in Switzerland and Great Britain, as well as FinTech companies and one of the Big Four audit and consulting firms, where he gained experience defining IT strategies and managing IT risk. In his current role as Global CISO at Avaloq, a premium provider of front-to-back software and services for over 160 financial institutions, Christian built out a team of approximately 40 highly qualified experts across various locations. He defined and implemented the security strategy with a focus on operational governance, operational security, security operations center (SOC) services, and identity and access management. He successfully consolidated and transformed the team into a single, effective organization. Christian has led and completed numerous key projects, including risk-based vulnerability management, cloud security, user-centric security awareness, and global ISO 27001 certification. He provides frequent board updates on information security matters, including key metrics, and he summarizes the security landscape, including key projects and activities. Before joining Avaloq, Christian held various security positions at UBS, Zurich Insurance, Credit Suisse, and KPMG. Christian, a thought leader in the industry, is enthusiastic about sharing his perspectives and insights with fellow professionals, and was included in a “Who’s Who in Cybersecurity” list in 2021. He actively participates in think tanks such as the Swiss-based Cyber Circle, and regularly engages as a speaker or panelist at conferences.
